Trinity Class

The Trinity Class is the young adult Sunday School class that currently meets in the Trinity Room which is in the basement across from the Garden Room. The Trinity Class is comprised of 20 and 30 year olds who are seeking to know God better, and better serve Him in their lives. We are currently studying the fruits of the spirit during the Sunday School hour, but are always open to the suggested topics of our group. We are always happy and excited to welcome new members to our group, if you would like more information about our class please contact Mike any time.

Creation Experiences

One of the best ways to connect with God, is by experiencing His glorious creation first-hand. Each fall there will be a creation experience scheduled for our men to re-connect with their creator and with one another. For the year 2009 we are planning a white water rafting trip to West Virginia, and we would love to have you join us if you are interested. The cost of these trips as well as the location will vary each year, so please Email Mike Warneke at for more information.

Basketball & Sports Fellowship

During the fall and winter months please join other men from Central in our Family Life Center for a chance to exercise and fellowship through competition and recreation. Please email Mike Warneke if you are interested in joining us on Wednesday nights for basketball, or if you would like to get a night of volleyball or tennis started as well. He will be happy to join you in fellowship or arrange for your group to use our facilities.

Lenten Breakfast

During the Lenten season, join other United Methodist Men from all over the Evansville community for breakfast on Saturday mornings. Each week during Lent a different United Methodist church will host a wonderful breakfast followed by a time of collective worship. The schedule changes each year, so please check for an updated list as we approach our next Lenten Season.

Parish Nurse Program

Central UMC is proud to have a Parish Nurse on staff. In 2000, the South Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church began to fund a Parish Nurse Program. A Parish Nurse is a registered nurse with additional training in holistic ministry. Our Parish Nurse offers blood pressure checks and occasional help interpreting doctor’s orders. However, her main focus has become keeping the sick and the elderly connected to their church family. She visits the home-bound, the hospitalized, and those in nursing homes. She also arranges greeting cards for the holidays and phone calls as appropriate.

Prayer Ministry

Central United Methodist Church’s Prayer Ministry Team is proud to provide an opportunity for you to share your prayer needs online! We want to express the love and care of Jesus for you at this time of need. When you submit a prayer request, we review it and add it to our prayer chain so you may have as many people possible praying for you.

Wednesday Friends

The Wednesday Friends group was initially meant to be the beginning of a senior adult day care ministry.  Spouses in need of respite were offered the chance to have lunch with a spouse, make sure the loved one was comfortable with the arrangement, and then leave for some respite.  As the program evolved, though, the spouses did not want to leave.  Now the group is more of a support group and we join each other for lunch, a brief devotional time, a few jokes, and lots of fellowship.  The Parish Nurse coordinates meals and devotions along with the aid of another Central Nurse, Paula Giesman. This group meets over lunch on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday’s of each month at 11 a.m.

Ladies Book Club

The ladies of Central UMC are clearly book lovers.  The Literary Ladies meet monthly at the Kennel Club to discuss a wide range of books.  We do not read the same book and discuss it as a group.  Rather, each participant is given an opportunity to tell about a book or two that she has read recently and whether or not she would recommend that others read it.  The ladies also bring books to share and give away.  This free and easy format has made this a favorite activity for a number of women.  We meet the third Tuesday of each month at the Kennel Club at 11:15.

United Methodist Women

The United Methodist Women of Central UMC are a part of a very long and proud tradition of the worldwide United Methodist Women. The United Methodist Women are devoted to serving women and children worldwide. The UMW supports such missions as the Kissee Clinic in Sierra Leone, Africa University in Zimbabwe, Heifer International and numerous projects closer to home such as the Red Bird Mission in Beverly, Kentucky, and the Lucille Raines Home in Indianapolis. Locally, we help to support, among others, The Methodist Youth Home, Ruth’s House, and our own POWER Program and Loaves and Fishes. For information on meeting times and places, or for information on joining a circle, please call the church office.
